The Public Works Department repairs and maintains machinery and equipment, oversees garage operations and plows and maintains approximately 22 miles of streets.
The Public Works Department also maintains all Village parks.

Garbage and Recycling
Garbage and recycling are collected by Badgerland Disposal/LRS as of 1/4/2020. Please see pick up schedule below. Garbage and recycling carts should be at the curb no later than 6 am on the collection day. Carts must be placed at the curb or in the driveway, if necessary, not in the street. If you are experiencing problems with pickups, please contact Badgerland Disposal/LRS at 608-580-0580.
Apartment buildings and businesses have private garbage and recycling contractors; contact building manager for your garbage contractor and schedule.
If you have moved into a home that does not have carts from Badgerland Disposal/LRS, please contact Village Hall at 920-699-2296. We will arrange for delivery of garbage and recycling carts.

Compost & Brush Rules and Regulations:
- The Johnson Creek Compost Site, is for Village Residents only. Residents shall not allow nonresidents access to the Johnson Creek Brush & Compost Site.
- The Johnson Creek Compost Site, is for brush & compost waste generated only, at the address shown above and will not be used to dispose of any waste generated at another address or any commercial waste.
- Residents will not dispose of any of the following items at the Brush & Compost Site:
• Air Conditioners • Humidifiers/De-Humidifiers • Mattresses/Box Springs
• Refrigerators/Freezers • Tires/Shingles • Hazardous Waste
• Anti-Freeze • Paints/Thinners • Liquids
• Fluorescent Ballast/Bulbs • Concrete/Brick • Explosive Material/Ammunition
• Propane/Gas Containers • Televisions • VCR/DVD/Blue-Ray Players
• Computer Printers • Microwaves • Car Batteries
• Computer Scanners • Fax Machines • Cell Phones
• Medications/Medical Supplies
Violations
(Code 60-21) of any of these rules will require the cardholder to remove and personally dispose of any disallowed items. If the cardholder fails to remove the disallowed item(s) the Village of Johnson Creek will dispose of the items and the cost of disposal as well as a citation in the amount of $300.00 will be billed to the cardholder.
In addition to any monetary penalties the following progressive penalties will be enforced:
- First Violation as cardholder – Warning
- Second Violation as cardholder – Suspension of card for remainder of calendar year
- Third Violation as cardholder – Permanent revocation of access to the Johnson Creek Brush & Compost Site.
Excessive use of the card will be evaluated and may subject the resident to usage limitations or additional fees.
A one-time fee of $15.00 is required to obtain the Compost Card, (Per Section205-8J) and Johnson Creek Fee Schedule.
If card is lost, or stolen, please report that information to the Village Hall at 920-699-2296, or in person at the office. The replacement card will cost $15.00. All lost or stolen cards will be deactivated.
