Johnson Creek's Powerful Independence Day Celebration Ignites Community Spirit
Centennial Park was filled with music, food, and community pride as Johnson Creek hosted its annual Independence Day Celebration on Thursday, July 3.
Hundreds of residents and visitors gathered for an evening of live blues from the Danny Miller Band, family-friendly activities, and a flag-raising ceremony featuring local veterans. The night ended with a vibrant fireworks display over the park.
A special moment came during the raising of a new flag at Centennial Park, led by Marine veteran Timothy La Sage and a group of local veterans from various branches. Local resident Diana Thomas and her daughter Rylie added a special touch by singing the Star-Spangled Banner as the flag was raised. This marked the first official flag raising at the site since the flagpole’s installation.
Event highlights included a dual-lane inflatable slide, face painting, games, and concessions served by Crossroads Community Church. Brinkmann Construction and Gallitz Grading Inc. generously sponsored this year’s live music and slide attraction, respectively.
“It was a powerful evening in Johnson Creek,” said Village President John L. Swisher. “From honoring our local veterans to seeing families come together under the fireworks, this celebration truly reflected the spirit and pride of our community.”
